What is a foil mask, and how is it different from a regular sheet mask?

A foil mask uses a reflective outer layer to trap heat and prevent the essence from evaporating, which helps the active ingredients absorb more efficiently. A regular sheet mask is generally a single layer of cotton or hydrogel without that occlusive backing.

How often should I use a foil mask?

Foil masks are generally used one to three times per week, or daily for short periods in the lead-up to an event. Because they are more occlusive than standard sheet masks, daily long-term use is usually unnecessary.

Is a foil mask suitable for sensitive skin?

A gentle, hydration-focused foil mask is suitable for most sensitive skin types, but the more occlusive design can amplify the effect of the actives. Patch test first and reduce the time on the skin if you tend to react quickly.

Should I apply other skincare after a foil mask, or is it enough on its own?

Always follow up with at least a moisturiser. Once the mask is removed, the essence on the skin can evaporate quickly without an occlusive step on top. A simple cream or sleeping mask is generally enough.
